Linda M. Keller
Position title: Emeritus Researcher
Linda M. Keller is an Emeritus Researcher in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. For the past 30 years she has worked on the Antarctic Automatic Weather Station (AWS) Project. Before she retired, Linda was responsible for processing and quality control work of the 10-minute AWS data. Linda now serves as backup data processor for David Mikolajczyk when he is working in Antarctica. She also participates on research studies utilizing the AWS observations.
Linda’s area of interest is climatology, and she is working to help create climate summaries for some of the longest running AWS sites. She also participates in the yearly State of the Climate for Antarctica publication from the American Meteorological Society. She has helped with or co-authored numerous publications about various topics in Antarctica from case studies of interesting weather phenomena to a 50-year climatology of the South Pole station.
Linda received her B.S. and M.S. in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her thesis topic was “The Moisture Budget of an Extratropical Cyclone”. She has worked on various research projects in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences since 1977.
Linda is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union, and Sigma Xi.
