Below are real-time hourly satellite composite imagery developed by the AMRDC, composed of both geostationary and polar-orbiting satellite data centered over the South Pole and covering the Antarctic and surrounding Southern Ocean region. There are five spectral channels of imagery: infrared (~10.8 μm), longwave (~12.0 μm), shortwave (~3.7 μm), visible (~0.65 μm), and water vapor (~6.7 μm). The central wavelengths of each channel are approximate due to varying spectral availability per satellite.
For each channel below, the latest GIF image is displayed. There are also links to the latest GIF image in four output sizes (small, medium, large, extra-large), a link to the rotated projection image (with 0 degrees longitude pointing up), and links to animations of the imagery.
