About AMRDC

The goal of the Antarctic Meteorological Research and Data Center (AMRDC), a joint project between the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) and Madison College, is to provide an accessible and reliable method of obtaining Antarctic meteorological data. The AMRDC builds on the premise of its predecessor, the Antarctic Meteorological Research Center (AMRC), in providing a resource for housing Antarctic meteorological datasets. The primary focus of the AMRDC project is the establishment of the AMRDC data repository, where Antarctic meteorological campaigns and projects can submit their datasets.

Another focus of the AMRDC is to continue generating and hosting real-time Antarctic meteorological data from throughout the community. This website features various types of real-time data created, gathered, and managed by UW-Madison. This includes data from the UW-Madison Automatic Weather Station (AWS) Program and Antarctic satellite composite imagery, two products for which UW-Madison has been known.

The personnel working on this project include staff and students from both UW-Madison and Madison College as well as an advisory board that features a diverse group of peers and expertise. These numerous perspectives involved in the generation and management of the AMRDC project will help ensure the AMRDC is achieving its goals of housing and distributing data efficiently for the community.
