Andy Kurth
Position title: Electrical Engineer

Andy Kurth P.E. is an Instructor and Program Director of Electronics at Madison College, where he also serves as the Primary Investigator for the Polar Climate Weather Station (PCWS) project and advises the Electronics Robots Club. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
Before joining Madison College, he worked as a hardware engineer at Intelix LLC. His technical background includes low-voltage circuit design, embedded systems, and PCB design and layout. He is also an SMTA Certified Process Engineer.
In 2018, he deployed to Antarctica as part of the PCWS project, which was developed under a National Science Foundation (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) grant. He continues to work closely with the Antarctic Meteorological Research and Data Center (AMRDC) at UW–Madison to advance and refine the PCWS technology.
Outside of the classroom and lab, he is an active Alpine Patroller with the National Ski Patrol at Snow River Resort in Bessemer, Michigan. He enjoys skiing, traveling to tropical destinations, and experimenting with addressable LED lighting, Arduino projects, and smart home automation.
