Registering clickers allows you to give credit to your students for class participation and performance. i>clicker supports three options for registering clickers: in class (roll call) registration, web registration, and in class (individual) registration.
Note: You must create a course roster before registering clickers using the in class (roll call) or (individual) registration methods. You must also create a course roster before synchronizing with online registrations.
Select Start Session from the i>clicker main screen. From the floating menu bar, click on the down arrow to open the Options menu and select Loan/Register Clickers.
From the Loan/Register clickers window, select Roll Call.
Note: If your students' names do not appear in the roll call screen verify that you have created a class roster.
Students can register by completing a simple registration form at www.iclicker.com/registration.
Students follow the instructions on the registration page to register their clickers.
After your students have registered online you can synchronize your roster with the registration data by clicking the Synchronize Web Registrations button in i>grader.
Note: Students must vote at least once in class using their i>clicker remotes before their web registrations will synchronize with your roster. It is therefore recommended that you ask at least one polling question the first day of class.
Individual registration is a good option if only a few students need to register (for example, a new student joins your class after you’ve completed Roll Call registration)
From the i>clicker floating menu bar, click the down arrow to open the Options menu and select Loan/Register Clickers. Be sure that For the Term (Permanent) is selected from the Register drop-down menu.
Enter the student’s Remote ID (the number on the back of their i>clicker) either by typing it into the Remote field, or by having the student hold the On/Off button on his/her remote until the blue light starts flashing (around two seconds) and then pressing the A button twice. This will send the clicker ID to the computer and the remote ID will appear in the Remote field as if you had typed it.
Select the student’s ID from the drop-down menu labeled Student. The names in this list are taken from your Roster.txt file.
Click OK. The student’s ID will be associated with the corresponding i>clicker remote ID.
